Juniper Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: August 26, 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Juniper mobile application and related services (the "App," "Service"). By creating an account, joining a household, or otherwise using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Juniper account. The App is designed for adults (parents, guardians, and household staff) to manage information on behalf of a household, including information about children. It is not directed to children, and children may not create their own accounts. See our Privacy Policy for more on how children's information is handled.
2. Accounts and households
a) Registration
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
b) Households
Juniper organizes users into "households." A household has an owner (the person who created it, or who is otherwise the paying subscriber) and may include other members such as a parent, co-parent, caregiver, or home manager, invited by the owner or an authorized member.
c) Shared data within a household
Information entered by any member of a household — including child tracking logs, tasks, calendar events, messages, family profile details, and shift/payroll records — is visible to other members of that household, consistent with their assigned role. By joining a household, you consent to this shared access.
d) Household owner responsibilities
The household owner is responsible for managing who has access to the household, including inviting and removing members. Juniper is not responsible for a household owner's decisions about who is granted access.
e) Removal from a household
A household owner may remove a member at any time. Removal revokes that member's access to the household's shared data going forward. Juniper is not responsible for disputes between household members regarding removal or access.
3. Subscriptions and payments
a) Free and paid tiers
Juniper offers a free tier for solo, individual use and a paid subscription plan ("Juniper Pro") that unlocks household sharing, messaging, photos, and home management tools. Current features and pricing for each tier are described within the App and are subject to change.
b) Billing
Paid subscriptions are billed through Apple's In-App Purchase system (StoreKit) and are subject to Apple's App Store terms in addition to these Terms. Subscriptions automatically renew for the billing period (monthly or annual, as selected) unless canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
c) Free trials
We may offer a free trial period for Juniper Pro. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will automatically be charged for the subscription. Trial eligibility and length are as described within the App at the time of signup.
d) Cancellations and refunds
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's refund policies; Juniper does not process payments or refunds directly.
4. Household staff, payroll, and shift tracking
Juniper provides tools for households to record clock-in/clock-out times, shift locations, mileage, PTO requests, and related information for nannies and home managers ("Household Staff Tools"). These tools are provided for the convenience of household record-keeping only. Juniper:
- is not a party to any employment, contractor, or caregiving relationship between household members and household staff;
- does not verify the accuracy of hours, mileage, expenses, or other information entered by users;
- is not a payroll processor, employer of record, or tax or legal advisor; and
- is not responsible for ensuring compliance with labor, tax, or other laws applicable to any household's use of these tools.
Households are solely responsible for the accuracy of their records and for complying with all applicable laws governing their relationship with household staff.
5. Location services
If a household enables shift location tracking, the App may collect a staff member's location while they are clocked in, in order to notify household members of arrivals/departures at saved places and show approximate location during a shift. This feature is off by default, requires explicit opt-in, and is limited to the duration of a shift. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.
6. The Junie AI assistant
Juniper includes an AI-powered assistant ("Junie") that can answer questions, suggest activities and meals, and help extract family information during onboarding. Junie's responses are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or not appropriate for your specific situation. Junie is not a substitute for professional medical, childcare, developmental, nutritional, legal, or financial advice. You are responsible for evaluating and independently verifying any suggestion before relying on it, especially anything related to a child's health, safety, or care.
7. User content
a) Your content
You retain ownership of the content you submit to the App (including photos, notes, logs, and other information) ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant Juniper a limited license to store, process, transmit, and display that content solely as necessary to operate and provide the App, including sharing it with other members of your household as described in Section 2(c).
b) Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for the User Content you submit and warrant that you have the right to submit it, including any content about other people (such as children or household staff) entered on their behalf.
c) Prohibited conduct
You agree not to use the App to:
- upload unlawful, abusive, harassing, or harmful content;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or household;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's account or household data;
- interfere with or disrupt the App's operation or security; or
- use the App for any purpose other than managing your own household.
We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
8. Intellectual property
The App, including its design, features, graphics, and code, is owned by Juniper and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to Juniper's trademarks, logos, or branding.
9. Termination
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time in the App's Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if we believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent or unlawful activity, or created risk or legal exposure for Juniper or other users. Upon termination, your right to use the App ends immediately; certain provisions of these Terms (such as Sections 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, and 12) survive termination.
10. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY CONTENT, NOTIFICATION, OR AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE OR TIMELY. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EXERCISING YOUR OWN JUDGMENT, PARTICULARLY REGARDING ANYTHING RELATED TO A CHILD'S HEALTH, SAFETY, OR CARE.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JUNIPER AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100) OR THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU, IF ANY, IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Juniper harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the App, your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person, including other members of your household.
13. Changes to the App or these Terms
We may modify or discontinue features of the App at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; if we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.
